New BBC Link

In 2014, BBC's theme is freedom. Here is my second published photo exploring this topic: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-26417828; look for number 12. On Monday, 3rd March, I was interviewed by BBC's Susannah Stevens and talked about what freedom means to me and how it was expressed in my photo.
If you haven't checked out the previous picture yet, here is the link that you missed:http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/in-pictures-25942841 (last one is mine).

As Free as a Bird...

These were taken in Lisbon a few days ago. Enjoy!

My views on freedom...

I no longer feel that freedom is absolute. There are many things in life that may make people feel hindered or limited in their freedom,  such as incurable diseases, lack of time or funds, to mention just a few.  However, I strongly believe that we can feel free despite those limitations.

In my early twenties, I read a book by Viktor Frankl that allowed me to understand that I am fully responsible for feeling free and that "everything can be taken from a man but one thing: the last of the human freedoms - to choose one's attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one's own way." I've learnt and accepted that there are (and there will be) situations that I'm no longer able to change. However, I am free to challenge myself and to choose my attitude: I can fully accept my circumstances and act freely within them.

Moreover, feeling free means to me standing up for my values, expressing my beliefs and acting on them, regardless of the fact that it may make me less popular in certain circles or less wealthy. This freedom gives me the necessary strength and courage to fight for what I believe is right even if it challenges the existing order.

I feel free when I create and when I relax or rest. I feel free travelling, walking across landscapes, painting, dancing, reading, listening to 'my' music, updating my blog,  writing poems and photographing people, objects, places or different scenarios.

Listen to this as freely as you wish!
